I have read the passage of “A Wife of Noble Character” (Proverbs 31:10-31) many times. It is a great passage with lots of practical help! But today I did a word study on the word “noble” in the first verse. The Hebrew word here is ‘hayil’. It is found 245 times in the Old Testament and 77 times it is translated “army”. I found this very interesting, because there is nothing in the definition to suggest this word as noble, character, or virtue!
Hayil has elements of strength, skill, capability and it is also a semi-military word being used for army, troop, and warrior!
A Warrior Wife, who can find? She is worth far more than rubies! (Prov 31:10)
Are you a mighty Warrior Wife for your husband? Do you stand in spiritual battle with him? Are you catapulting the enemy from you knees? Are your prayers a veritable army against which the devil CANNOT stand? Does you sword stand ready to do battle on behalf of your husband and family?
Now THAT truly is worth more than rubies!
Go to it girls!!
