Who can dwell with God? Who has the ear of the Almighty? Who can come boldly to His throne of grace? (Ps 15)
The Psalmist said, “If I had cherished sin in my heart, the LORD would not have listened.”
In scripture, there is great worth placed on an obedient heart! The Lord hears the prayers of those whose hearts are in line with Him. Yet His face is turned against those who are disobedient or outside of His will.
Whoever of you loves life
and desires to see many good days,
keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from telling lies.
Turn from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.
The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous,
and his ears are attentive to their cry;
but the face of the LORD is against those who do evil,
to blot out their name from the earth.
Is your heart obedient? Are you desiring to please God with your life? Without this, God will not listen to your prayers! If He does not hear the prayers of the unrighteous, then are the unrighteous even praying to begin with? Can we have true communication with God if He will not listen because our lives are disobedient? I think not!
Martin Luther said, “To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.” If this is true then how can we be true followers of Christ without obeying His words?
Check your life and heart. Have you obeyed in every area? There is one prayer that God will always hear: the prayer of a repentant sinner! Turn from any evil in your heart and God will listen to your prayers! AMEN.
